The M2C Institute

The M2C is an interdisciplinary media research institute in the working field of computer science and culture. It stays in permanent exchange and is involved in several medialization projects with industrial heritage institutions and museums in Europe. Our main focus lays on the development of new media applications for example: mobile infotainment, mobile learning, te-learning environments, mobile games, community platforms, interaction and participation. The core of the M2C Institute is the realization of development and research of projects in various fields of digital media: mobile gaming, mobile application in public space, electronic culture and museum media. In collaboration with the North-West German Museum of Industrial Heritage Nordwolle new knowledge media, mobile systems for museums and educational games are being developed and proved. Since September 2009 the Project MaX is being promoted by the European Union’s Culture2000 program. The project aims for cultural interaction, technical innovation and participation in museums. The forerunner project Moritz, which was likewise funded by the European Union, was awarded with the prize for “Best practice in Creativity and Innovation from EU Programmes” in 2009. The project MOMEUS was supported by the promotion of economic development by the federal state of Bremen. The total capacity of all projects amounts to 900.000 EUR.
